In interior design, the difference between a space that feels styled and one that feels lived in often comes down to intention. This project by Kaizen Design Studio finds that balance with ease, creating an interior that feels composed yet deeply personal.
Rather than simply placing furniture, Kaizen approached this home as a layered composition. Domkapa’s upholstered pieces are paired with noble materials – marble surfaces, herringbone oak floors and classic wall mouldings – resulting in an atmosphere that is calm, tactile and quietly striking. The result is minimal, but never cold; refined, yet unmistakably welcoming.
Let’s take a closer look at how each space unfolds and how the selected pieces help shape the overall experience!
1. The Living Room: modularity that shapes the space
The living area is anchored by the Edward Sofa, a piece that naturally responds to one of the most common design challenges: creating presence without excess.
Thanks to its modular construction and generous proportions, Edward grounds the room while maintaining visual lightness. Its low profile allows architectural features, such as the expansive windows, to remain uninterrupted, reinforcing the connection between the interior and exterior. The deep seating invites slower moments, encouraging the space to be used, not just admired.
Designer’s note: Edward’s optional accessories, from integrated side tables to magazine racks, allow the sofa to evolve beyond seating. It becomes a central element that supports comfort and everyday functionality.
2. The Bedroom: two interpretations of comfort
In the private areas, Kaizen explores how different bed designs can redefine the mood of a room, even within a similar architectural language.
The Margot Bed – The Soft Statement:
In the first suite, the Margot Bed acts as a soft architectural element. Its split-padded headboard provides a sense of symmetry that mirrors the wall panelling. The metallic tubing and feet add a touch of “jewellery” to the room – a subtle glint of luxury that contrasts beautifully with the matte textures of the linens. It’s the ultimate choice for clients who prioritise a “cocooning” sensation.
The Shelby Bed – Geometric Precision:
In the second space, the Shelby Bed takes centre stage. This piece is a favourite for designers working with tighter footprints or those looking to play with perspective. Because the headboard is slightly narrower at the top, it draws the eye upward, creating a sense of volume. It’s clean, it’s sharp and it brings a contemporary edge to the classic boiserie walls.
3. Versatility in the details: the Anna Chair
Finally, we see the Anna Chair integrated into the workspace area. As designers, we know that “versatility” is often the most requested feature from a client.
Anna is what we like to call a design playground. Kaizen Design Studio took advantage of its refined silhouette to bridge the gap between “functional office chair” and “elegant dining piece”. By choosing a sledge base for a modern look or a wooden four-leg base for warmth, you can completely pivot the chair’s personality. In this project, it stands as a testament to how one well-designed piece can provide a cohesive thread throughout an entire home.
Texture, balance and feeling at home
What truly elevates this project is the dialogue between textures. Cool marble surfaces are softened by Domkapa’s upholstery; structured architectural elements are balanced by rounded, inviting forms. Every material choice contributes to how the space feels, not just how it looks.
Seeing our pieces integrated into such a thoughtful project is always rewarding. Kaizen Design Studio didn’t simply specify furniture; they built a narrative around it.
