Inside A Perfectly Balanced Living Room By Etch & Notch Designs

Sometimes the most impactful designs are the ones that whisper rather than shout. This stunning living room by Etch & Notch Designs proves that point beautifully, creating a space that’s sophisticated and incredibly inviting through a masterful use of neutral tones and textural contrasts.

You know that feeling when you walk into a room and everything just clicks? The proportions feel right, the colours flow seamlessly and this sense of calm sophistication makes you immediately want to sink into the nearest chair and stay awhile. That’s exactly what Etch & Notch has achieved here – and the best part is, it’s not magic. It’s smart design decisions, quality pieces and an understanding of how people actually want to live.

Let’s explore exactly how they pulled it off!

About Etch & Notch

Etch & Notch Designs, founded by Noor Bazlamit and based in Amman, Jordan, has built a reputation for a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach. The interior design and home decor company specialises in curating spaces where every element – from textures to tones – has been carefully considered and tested. Whether they’re working on new construction or tackling the challenges of renovation projects, their philosophy remains the same: it’s all about the journey from initial sketches to final execution, with the client experience at the centre of everything they do.

With a strong following on social media, they’ve clearly struck a chord with people who appreciate design that’s sophisticated and liveable. This living room project is a perfect example of why – it’s the kind of space that photographs beautifully but, more importantly, would feel amazing to actually live in.

The power of monochrome done right

Walking into this space, you’re immediately struck by how cohesive yet dynamic it feels. The entire room flows in a palette of warm taupes, soft greys and creamy whites, but there’s nothing boring about it. The magic lies in the layering – from the upholstered Disruption Sofas that anchor the seating arrangement to the sleek linear ceiling details that draw the eye upward.

The layout is classic yet fresh, with two generous Disruption Sofas facing each other across a statement coffee table. But it’s the details that make this space sing: the subtle variations in texture between the sofa upholstery and throw pillows, the interplay between the soft curves of the seating and the clean lines of the architecture, and that gorgeous wood panelling that adds warmth without overwhelming the serene atmosphere.

Let’s talk about those sofas by Domkapa – because they’re clearly doing a lot of work in this space. The Disruption Sofa’s modular design allows for this kind of flexible, conversational layout that feels formal and relaxed. With its high-cushion seats and ergonomic proportions, it strikes that perfect balance between looking sophisticated and actually being comfortable enough for real life.

The curvy, minimalist lines bring that “seductive elegance” the piece is known for, while the neutral upholstery lets the form speak for itself.

Our Hubert Armchair flanking the side table adds another layer of texture and visual interest to the other side of the living room. Its flowing lines and metallic structure create beautiful contrast points in the otherwise soft composition, while those distinctive three-section backrests add just enough detail to keep things interesting without breaking the room’s serene mood.

In a world where we’re all craving calm and connection, this kind of neutral luxury hits all the right notes. It’s sophisticated enough for entertaining but comfortable enough for everyday life. The modular nature of our Disruption Sofas means the layout can adapt as needs change, while the timeless colour palette ensures the space won’t feel dated in five years.

For fellow designers, there’s a lot to learn here about restraint, proportion and the power of letting beautiful furniture be the star of the show. Sometimes the best design move is knowing when to step back and let quality pieces speak for themselves – and this project does exactly that, with stunning results!
